I finally got around to checking out Dark Horse Expresso Bar (682 Queen Street East, Toronto) yesterday as I’ve walked by it a few times now. It’s a warm and welcoming spot with free wi-fi (yah!), lots of newspapers (one of my favourite guilty pleasures is just sitting in a nice cafe drinking coffee and reading the paper) and walnut brownies that are meant for gorging on (mmmmm …).
I also enjoyed sitting at the large wooden communal table that occupies the main floorspace of the bar — wasn’t sure how it would feel sitting so close to and with a bunch of strangers but it turned out to be pretty comfortable and friendly. With the door propped open and a nice spring breeze blowing through, it was a pretty sweet way to spend the afternoon.
Had a couple of tough words to work with for today’s CSOTD:
