The D.A.D. Project – Week #2

June 20, 2010

Week #2 with The Dad Project went really well: by the end of it, we had sold 17 prints (including the two donated by our Feature Friday guest artists, John Bagnell and High on Craft) and received some generous direct donations through our Canadian Cancer Society Team webpage. Thanks to everyone for their generous and enthusiastic support!

Here are the two illustrations that I came up with for last week:

I guess being airborne was really on my mind or something!

Thanks for continuing to tune in 🙂

A different—and special—kind of CSOTD

June 8, 2010

Yesterday, my sister Em and I launched a new project that’s quite near and dear to our hearts: The D.A.D. (Drawing A Day) Project. It’s a dedication to our father who is fighting Stage 4 colon cancer and a creative way for us to support him and the Canadian Cancer Society. Through our daily drawings, we hope to do some fundraising while bringing a smile to people’s faces. Hope you get a chance to check out our site and take a peek at what we’re up to.

The D.A.D. Project

With this new project on the go, I won’t be able to keep up with my CSOTDs (Creative Somethings of Day) – as it is, I’m already a week behind! So my plan is to post CSWICs (Creative Somethings When I Can) – not sure how often this will be but I’ll do my best not to disappoint.

Thanks to everyone who checked out my CSOTDs regularly … it’s been fun and challenging coming up with them for the past year and a bit!

You should check out www.evilmadscientist.com which has a bunch of crazy, fun and interesting “experiments” that you can easily do yourself, such as:

And so I drew from the above for inspiration for today’s Creative Something of the Day:

For anyone out there with an iPhone, iTouch or iPad, www.poolga.com offers a crazy collection of wallpapers by a variety of artists. I don’t have one of these gadgets myself but I had fun checking out all the cool and funky artwork. Here are a couple of fun ones – hope you enjoy checking out others on the site:

I recently found Every Day I Draw a Dog, a blog where someone (Dr. Salt) came up with a daily canine drawing for the  whole of  2009 … some fun pics to check out here.

And my own daily creative today would be:

Why can’t we all just get along?

March 28, 2010

Check out The Great Showdowns by Scott C., a clever blog of fun drawings,  “chronicling of some of the greatest confrontations in FILM HISTORY”. I love trying to figure out all the different movies … here are an obvious few:

“If your head comes away from your neck, it’s over!” by Scott C. (The Great Showdowns)
