So our first week of The D.A.D. Project is coming to a close and I think we’re off to a pretty good start. Em and I took turns posting drawings and today we feature another artist who will be donating a piece of artwork of their own.
In case you haven’t had a chance to check out the D.A.D. website, these are the two illustrations that I came up with for this week:
Walking on Sunshine
We managed to sell two prints and received our first direct donation through our team page on the Canadian Cancer Society website. Thanks again to everyone for all your support, kind words and enthusiasm with our fundraising project!

Enjoying going through the online portfolio of Don Kenn — wow, talk about talent! Just loving his characters, his style and all the fine detail.
Here’s my CSOTD (Creative Something of the Day) to share:

Have a hankering for some yummy dumpling goodness? Try some at Mother’s Dumplings at 79 Huron Street, Toronto — personal faves are chicken and mushroom (they seem to sell out of these ones fast!) and pork and chives. I’ve had a great sit-down meal in the restaurant itself (check out the juicy pork buns too) but what’s just as nice is taking home a stash of these frozen homemade dumplings and making them as you want.

Just wanted to share some photos I took of a friend’s Labradoodle puppy that I was lucky enough to dogsit yesterday afternoon. I quickly learned that if you’re interested in meeting new people, all you need to do is take one of these cute little fellas for a walk around the block:
I think he inspired me enough to come up with two drawings for today’s CSOTD (Creative Something of the Day) which fits in pretty well with the puppy pics:

Just wanted to say Happy Mother’s Day to all you fantastic moms out there
” … the word mother is more powerful when it is used as a verb than as a noun. Mothering has little to do with biological reproduction—as another friend once told me, there are women who bear and raise children without ever mothering them, and there are people (both male and female) who mother all their lives without ever giving birth. The bad news is that not all of us have the good fortune to be born to our real mothers, or to stay with them as long as we need them. The good news is that, while mothers are often in short supply, mothering is not. Against all odds, despite everything that works against it on this unpleasant, uncomfortable planet, mothering is here in abundance. You can always find it, if you’re smart and know where to look.” (from Expecting Adam: A True Story of Birth, Rebirth, and Everyday Magic by Martha Beck)
And for today’s Creative Something of the Day (CSOTD):

Just had to shout out some more: in addition to her new shirt designs, my sister Emily now has a line of clothing for children (t-shirts) and babies (onesies). There’s going to be some pretty stylin’ kids around soon!

Today’s CSOTD (Creative Something of the Day) would probably be better named “Pirate Zen”?
